During the European Week of Regions and Cities, the first three Smart Cities and Communities projects GrowSmarter, Remourban and Triangulum, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, hosted the session "From dream to reality: sharing experiences from leading European Smart Cities" in which more than 150 participants took part. Stockholm, Barcelona och Köln visar vägen till framtidens städer. Nu pågår demonstration av smarta stadslösningar inom GrowSmarter där Fortum Värme är med. För tre år sedan utsåg EU tre så kallade demonstrationsstäder med uppgift att testa och utveckla smarta lösningar för hållbar tillväxt av städer.

The lighthouses in GrowSmarter are Barcelona, Cologne and Stockholm, where the challenges will be met with three chief aims: 1) to improve the life quality of  GrowSmarter, RemoUrban and Triangulum projects, co-financed by the H2020 consisted on 3 lighthouse cities (Stockholm, Cologne and Barcelona) and 5  Kick-off conference for the GrowSmarter European Project. GrowSmarter brings together cities and industry to integrate and demonstrate ‘12 smart city solutions’ in energy, infrastructure and transport, to provide other cities with valuable insights on how they work in practice and opportunities for replication. Barcelona has been transformed into an urban laboratory, piloting projects and services that make the city more open, efficient and friendly. The innovation zone, known as the 22 nd District, has been chosen for Barcelona's implementation of the smart solutions within the GrowSmarter project.

21 Nov 2019 Gustaf Landahl, Project Coordinator for GrowSmarter and Head of and Barcelona for their partnership as Lighthouse Cities in GrowSmarter.

The aim is to validate the technical and economic feasibility of executing an energy refurbishment of a tertiary building. GrowSmarter The project brings together the cities of Barcelona, Cologne and Stockholm to demonstrate 12 smart, integrated solutions for city services such as renovation, heating, waste management, mobility and other, as a way of preparing for a wider market rollout. GrowSmarteris a lighthouse project funded by Horizon 2020 with 25m€ in which Barcelona, Stockholm and Cologne showcase 12 smart solutions to support growth and sustainability in Europe. Our demonstratorwithin GrowSmarter was established at Nissan’s headquarters in Barcelona and sought to explore the potential of V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything). Under the GrowSmarter project, Gas Natural Fenosa has implemented energy refurbishment of three buildings with very different uses, and one of them is a hotel H10 Catedral.
